GENERAL  CONFESSION

Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men;...

Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints: who shall not fear thee, O Lord ?

...we acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness,...

Our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us.

I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid: I said, I will confess my transgressions unto
the Lord.
  Psalm 32:5. 

Mine iniquities are gone over my head, as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me: I will declare mine iniquity, I will be sorry for my sin.

I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins.

We have sinned, and committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments; neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of this land.  Dan. 9:5, 6. 

Our backslidings are many, we have sinned against thee.

Thou art just in all that is brought upon us, for thou hast done right, but we have  done wickedly; neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept the law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherein thou didst testify against them.

I hate vain thoughts, but thy law do I love.

The thought of foolishness is sin.

O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within me? 
Jer. 4:14. 

If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. 
James 3:2. 

I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment: for by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

...Against thy Divine Majesty,...

Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee.  Luke 15:18. 

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight; that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Psalm li. 4. 

With God is terrible Majesty. 
Job 37:22.

How can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God ?

Psalm 51:1. 

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me; for my soul trusteth in thee; yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a Propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

If any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the Propitiation for our sins.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us: if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:8, 9.

 

...And grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee in newness of life, To the honour and glory of thy Name; Through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Rom. 6:4, 6, 13. 

We beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us, how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
1 Thess. 4:1. 

The life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God.
Gal. 2:20. 

The love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then we were all dead: and that he died for all, that they which should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. 2 Cor. 5:14, 15. 

Ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Cor. 6:20. 

Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy Name ? for thou only art holy.
Rev. 15:4. 

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
